TREK TO MAHULI FORT....

After a drenching trek to raigad, we were looking for one day trek near to mumbai,

Trek date: On the occasion of ramjan eid, 9th August 2013.

Pravesh from our group had already visited the place earlier.

This time there are three new mwmber join the group, three friend of Rohan.
Priyanka, Soniya & Mamta.

How toreach to Mahuli Fort.

Catch a train for Asangaon, From asangaon railway station there are Rikshaw
available which will take you to base village. They charge 250Rs/Rikshaw.
Only 3 person allowed at a time. The road is not proper at some points.

There is a small hotel available at the base which can provide you tea & srnacks.
Kanda Pohey is also available. You can place the order for food.Veg-Non Veg available.

So we had a tea there & started the trek.
& As usual getting lost in the jungle... ab adat si ho gayi hai...
So Me, Pawan, Pravesh, banne, KV, RT (Rohan Tate), Sunit went ahead.. & Rohan, Ketan,
Jasbir, priyanka, soniya & mamta were busy having their brekfast.

as we know history repeats, this time also Kudtarkar took all of them to wrongway & lost in the jungle.( @rajmachi trek Gajanan Kudtarkar(one of the guy who accompanied us in rajmachi trek), took us to wrong way)

Rohan kis gali jaa rahein hai..rohan ka koi thikana nahi....

That made us to wait for him & search for him.
we lost one & half hour  searching them.

Pravesh & Pawan went ahead & they met us at the top.
Most of the blog says its a one day trek, but actually its not.
This trek is more of enjoying while reaching top, there are  no remains of the fort.
Only small cave at the top & a waterfall.

Its actually go up & walk on the flat patch, again climb up the small hill walk flat,
again climb up hill & so on n on.. like that there are seven small hill, one need to cross.
The trek is really tiring if you are doing it in summer season.Best time to go is only
rainy season amazing spot very nice scene, very pleasing experience.
Beauty of this trek is that there are small small rock patch you will find while
trekking & the best part is that the rocks of this mountain are not smooth they are
rough so the chances of sleeping is very less provided you step up right.

Also I would like to appreciate the enthusiasm shown by three newcomers in the group,
they get mixed in the group quickly. & specially sonia, inspite of having injury, her ankle
got twisted, she continued the trek till the caves. she didnt said about returning at all
very nice. Priyanka's first trek done very well, just that she was less confident. Mamta
was just enjoying the trek. & we all rely on Jasbir to take care of all of them.

At the top there are small caves. only one big cave that too almost 20ft by 10ft size.
One can make fire inside & can prepare the food inside provided you should have drywood.

Luckily we got some drywood & kerosene, we prepare tea, much needed as all of us were wet.
Try to carry as much as water. two small well are there at top, it is said that water
is available at the top in all 365 days. But make sure that you should carry sufficient
water with you.

This trek can be done in one day only if you can start early in the morning.
otherwise you will end up coming late to base & you will find difficulties for getting
transportation to reach station. Last ST comes about 7pm, do check the timing before
going up from the villagers as timing may fluctuate.

My suggestion one should start the trek as early as possible in the morning.  There is no provision to stay in the base village, only one small hotel actually a hut, one can stay there if villagers allow.

Go enjoy, Happy Trekking......
