Dudhsagar Waterfalls, Goa
DUDHSAGAR WATERFALL GOA
Hi,
15th August 2015, we headed for Dudhsagar waterfall Goa. Pending destination in my list from last year...
Best season to visit: Late June - July - early September.
This place can also be visited in November to december, tent set up can be done only near railway station.. no other place for tent set up..as the forest is too dense & RPF (Railway police force) will not allow for set up.
One need to take permission & passes to set up tent from "Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary and Mollem National Park".
How to reach:
From Mumbai: No direct train available to reach Dudhsagar.
Catch Manglore Express ( dept 10pm) from Mumbai reach Madgaon (next day 8am)station.
Many other trains are avilable to reach Madgaon.
By Train
Only two local train from Madgaon to Dudhsagar 7:45am & 1:30pm that too till Kolem. Stations--- Kolem-Sonalium-Dudhsagar - Caranzol-Castle rock.
Many people walk on railway tracks from kolem to Dudhsagar its a 12Km distance.
So if you are planning to go by train from MAO you can get in below mention train, these train does not halt at Kolem
MAO GOA express (12779) all days, 15:50 will reach Castlerock (CLR) 17:35
VSG SBC LINK Expres (02779) all days, 15:50 will reach Castlerock (CLR) 17:35
VSG Howarh express (18048) not on all days 7:50 will reach Castlerock (CLR) 9:20
VSG Chennai express (17312)not on all days 15:20 will reach Castlerock (CLR) 17:05
GOA express from Pune at 16:20 reaches Kulem at 4:30
All these trains going to Castlerock stops for a minute or slow down at Dudhsagar waterfall station, one can get down quickly at that time, but be very carefull as it can be dangerous OR u can get down at kolem station & walk towards Dudhsagar
By Bus
No direct bus available to reach Sonalium, buses going to Hubli will drop you at Sonalium. from Sonalium ask for "Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary and Mollem National Park" from there one can trek through forest & reach Dudhsagar waterfall. Jeeps & bikes are also available to reach the waterfall through sanctuary..( this road is closed in rainy season) Tent set up can be done at dudhsagar waterfall, near railway station, one needs to take prior permission from forest dept / sanctuary before setting up the tent. Return journey: As per your schedule further one can check out the return journey by railway on irctc website.
